This page sets out how F&B Today reports, checks and corrects its work.

A business title

We write about the business, operation and regulation of food and drink. Nothing on this site is dietary, nutritional or medical advice.

Sourcing

Factual claims are taken from named primary sources: company announcements, stock exchange filings, regulators, courts and official statistics. Each article lists its sources. Where a detail comes from another publication, we say so.

Health, nutrition and safety claims

We report a claim about what a food or ingredient does only from the regulator, the peer-reviewed paper or the company filing, and we attribute it. We state the approval status and the country or region it applies to. For a study, we name the journal, the date, the sample size and who funded it, and we say if it is a preprint. Recalls and alerts are reported from the regulator’s own notice.

Announced plans and figures

Factory investments, capacity, launch dates and targets are reported as announced plans, with the date they were stated. They can change. We do not publish live market prices or share prices; we link to the official page instead.

Analysis

Where we draw a conclusion from the facts, we label it as our reading.

Images

Captions say whether an image shows the company, product or site in the story, or is a representative photograph.

Commercial content

Advertising and partner messages are labelled and kept separate from reporting. Directory listings do not buy coverage.

Company announcements

Companies can send announcements through the submit news page. An editor checks the sender and the original document before anything is published, and asks whether the text makes a product or health claim and whether the evidence is linked. Announcements we run are edited for length and style, labelled “Company announcement” and linked to the original. They are not F&B Today reporting, and publication cannot be bought.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we correct the article and note the change. Report an error through the submit news page.
