Brakes, a Sysco company, is a UK foodservice wholesaler. Its site says it began as a small family firm and has supplied out-of-home and catering customers across Britain for over 60 years. Customers can combine fresh, ambient and frozen products on one order, with next-day delivery Monday to Saturday for orders placed before 5pm, from a national fleet of multi-temperature vehicles.
The own-brand range is developed with chefs, nutritionists and category experts, and Brakes says about 60% of own-brand products are produced, manufactured and packed in the UK. Group businesses named on the site include Fresh Direct for produce and dairy, Fairfax Meadow catering butchers, Campbells butchery, Country Choice, Brakes Catering Equipment, and regional broadliners Kff and Medina. Brakes says it is a five-times winner of Foodservice Operator of the Year at the Quality Food Awards.
