Zonal is a hospitality technology company registered in Edinburgh as Zonal Retail Data Systems Limited. It was founded in 1979, when founder Ralph McLean built an EPoS system to solve stock and takings shortfalls at his family’s Edinburgh hotel. The site says its customers include some of the UK’s largest pub companies, restaurant groups and hotel chains, and that Zonal joined Volaris Group in 2026.
Products include Aztec Enterprise POS for multi-site operators, Akru POS for independents, handheld ordering and ZonalPay integrated payments. It also offers online ordering, order and pay, click and collect, kiosks, reservations and table management, purchase-to-pay, mobile stocks, menu management, kitchen management, analytics and reporting, and hotel property management systems. Marketing tools include Airship CRM, loyalty programmes and gift cards, alongside consultancy and data services.
